Explore Australia’s stunning east coast, taking in the iconic sights of Byron Bay, as you make your way from Sydney to bustling Brisbane on this 8-day guided tour. All trips have a leader who was born and raised in Australia. Accommodation is unique and traditional; this itinerary has been specifically crafted to include as much time as possible doing local activities with local people.

Day 1: Sydney


  • Your East Coast Australia tour experience starts in Australia's Harbour City, the glittering jewel in the east coast's crown.
  • Meals Included: Dinner



Day 2: Sydney


  • Explore some of Sydney’s most beautiful spots on a walking tour, taking in the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.
  • Included Activities: Sydney city sights tour
  • Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch



Day 3: The Hunter Valley & Newcastle


  • Head to Hunter Valley. Your wildlife ranger will point out koalas and kangaroos as we make our way to a gourmet lunch – yes, there will be cheese, and wine, and chocolate (the Hunter is famous for it!).
  • Included Activities: Hunter Valley wine, cheese, chocolate and organic vodka distillery tour, and Wildlife Park
  • Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch



Day 4: Port Macquarie via Forster


  • Hit the scenic Lakes Way for a coastal walk and lookout climb. Afterwards, you’re off to Port Macquarie in time for a sunset cruise.

Day 5: Dorrigo National Park


  • Meet the fuzzy patients at the local koala hospital, then travel to Dorrigo National Park, an area famous for its lush rainforest and waterfalls.

Day 6: Byron Bay


  • Splash about in Dangar Falls, then head to the laid-back surfer hub of Byron Bay. First stop is an organic farm where you’ll pick and prepare a healthy lunch. Walk to Byron's iconic lighthouse for photos, before heading back into town to explore one of the many casual restaurants for dinner.

Day 7: Byron Bay


  • It’s a free day today. Perhaps start the day with a swim in the ocean, indulge in a massage, or stretch out your limbs at an optional yoga class.
  • No meals included on this day.



Day 8: Brisbane


  • After breakfast, cross the border and travel north to Brisbane where it’s time to say farewell. The trip ends in Brisbane's CBD or airport.

Valid for travel for the specific group departure time indicated above. All bookings are subject to availability at time of booking.  Prices advertised are subject to change without notice until such time as the package is booked and paid for.  A depost of $400 is required to secure your booking and full payment is required at least 60 days before your travel date.  If booking and traveling with less than 56 days to go until departure, full payment is needed at the time of booking. There will be no extensions to the travel, booking or payment periods listed above.  Downunder Travel Ltd. is the agent/broker in this equation and for that reason is not responsible for any issues or incidents which result in clients expenditure outside of the package booked paid for and agreed upon. All passengers traveling to Australia must have an Australian travel Visa. Please advise your Downunder Travel Specialist should you be traveling on anything other than a Canadian or U.S. passport.  All Canadian Citizens must re-enter Canada on a valid Canadian Passport. Airfare, taxes & fuel surcharges component of package must be paid in full at time of booking at which time the airfare becomes non-refundable. We highly recommend that all passengers protect themselves with cancellation / interruption insurance which will cover them against cancellations due to non pre-existing medical conditions which cause them penalties or other expenses. We also highly recommend medical insurance for any travel outside of your home province.
