Day 1 - Auckland to Paihia


  • Wake up bright and early from Auckland and head north to Paihia with stops on the way to see giant kauri trees and to hike to a beautiful waterfall. Snorkel off the beach with the amazing marine life at Goat Island followed by a trip to the historic Waitangi Treaty Grounds (own expense).
  • After settling into your accommodation, the evening is yours at leisure. 
  • Meals included: Dinner

Day 2 - Paihia to Opononi


  • The Bay of Islands is a collection of 144 islands bursting with marine life – best to see it than by boat. In the morning, enjoy a wildlife cruise, keeping a keen eye out for dolphins.
  • In the afternoon it’s off to Opononi; get greeted by a local Maori and welcomed to the area, see huge sand dunes and take part in an evening tour or Tane Mahuta “God Of The Forest” (Own expense) 
  • Meals included: Breakfast and Dinner

Day 3 – Opononi to Auckland


  • It’s across the Hokianga Harbour to go sandboarding today down the massive dunes before you make our way south through the mighty Waipoua Forest littered with 1000 year old trees. 
  • Visit the idyllic Kai Iwi Lakes for a swim in the crystal clear waters draped with beautiful white sand before departing for Auckland arriving late afternoon. 
  • Meals included: Breakfast

  • Motion sickness tablets, water bottle
  • Warm clothing, studry walking shoes/boots, hat and a waterproof jacket
