Introducing Lori Mezzomo - Destination Specialist

My love of travel started very young.  I travelled often with my family and it included visiting European relatives and being exposed to that very rich culture.  Eventually, my love of travel brought me to discover other cultures and beautiful landscapes such as Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. I am proud to now say that I have worked over 30 years in the travel industry (certified and ‘fluent’ in the South Pacific regions)!  Hey, it was and is still my first and only ‘grown-up job’!

I am proud to be specializing in the South Pacific.  This is because of the people, the unique destinations and offerings... I love mingling with the locals and learning (and rediscovering) their cultures and way of life.  It is also just so much fun uncovering little hidden treasures, be it a swanky little restaurant in Sydney or scoring an excellent angle to set up my folding chair when watching the sunset over Ayers Rock!

While I love every place in the South Pacific, my absolute favourite destination is my most recent trip to Tasmania!  Believe it or not, after all these years working in travel, this is the first time I’ve visited the Australian state of Tasmania and it’s now my favourite spot.  The scenery was breathtaking in regions like Freycinet National Park for example as well as Mount Wellington.  There’s so much culture to explore in Hobart especially with the Salamanca Market!  Be sure to check out the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) and the Royal Tasmanian Botanical gardens.  Best way to discover ‘Tassie’ as a whole: do a self drive!

Travellers may be concerned with the long flights to the South Pacific from Canada... Never fear!  Here’s my strategy to combat the long flight: Keep all travel files in order on your carry-on so they can easily be retrieved when needed, grab as much sleep as possible so you can enjoy your vacation with very little jet-lag, and finally, when not snoozing I personally will catch up on all the latest movies and TV shows on the airplane’s entertainment system (psst... our airline partners offer award-winning entertainment!)

So if you’re considering the South Pacific, I recommend you not ‘dive in’ straight away... Start planning with a certified South Pacific agent like myself and have ongoing discussions on what you’d like to see so I can get you the best flights, hotels and excursions (often at great prices, too).  And of course, book early... while I can definitely help with last minute arrangements, it’s best to plan ahead as I’ll be at the mercy of what is available.  Remember: a vacation in the South Pacific is recommended to be a minimum of 14 days!

“The thrill of putting together the holiday of a lifetime for my clients is addictive!”
