Have your vacation the way you want it, in Fiji!

22 April 2014

Currently I am traveling solo amidst some islands and gorgeous white sandy beaches of the Mamanuca Group in Fiji. Although Fiji is often seen as a romantic getaway, the hospitality here in Fiji is sure to cater to every need, every activity level and every age. I like to think Fiji is one of the easiest islands of the South Pacific to travel to whether it's your sole destination or a nice stopover location en route to Australia or New Zealand. Access to the 333 islands that make up Fiji is only a 10-hour overnight flight from Los Angeles, a 4-hour flight from Sydney and a 3-hour flight from Auckland.

Fiji truly does have something for everyone. When it comes to activities, Fiji is known worldwide for being one of the best locations for scuba diving; whether you are already certified or wish to get certified. Many of the resorts have their own Padi dive shops. As well, Fiji offers snorkelling, river-rafting, jet boating and kayaking among some of the more unique activities like swimming with manta rays during the summer months.

Fiji boasts different kinds of accommodation types whether it be adults-only luxury boutique resorts for quiet time with your partner or accommodation options for families with multi-room suites. Kids clubs in Fiji are superb offering fun activities and experiences for children- this gets them outside playing and keeping active. I've already observed so many happy kids enjoying the kid action at both Mana Island resort and yesterday at Castaway Island Resort a treasure hunt was underway. In addition to the many kinds of land accommodations, Fiji offers multi-day cruise options with small ships that visit a number of the outer islands.

All possibilities, for all accommodation types, are served with the ubiquitous Fiji warmth and welcoming hospitality. Always. This Fijian kindness is what makes Fiji so unique and I first experienced this friendliness as a backpacker here in 1985. Every trip since has reinforced this special culture that greets you with a smiling “Bula!". You can be relaxed and pampered, active and busy, secluded or with others in Fiji. Whatever you fancy, Fiji's got it.
