Five Stunning Islands in Australia you MUST Visit

Starting now, I’m redesigning your beach bucket list!  Below are five scenic Australian islands, geographically spread out for greater diversity ...so no matter where you happen to be going within Australia, you’ll be sure to look for your nearest island and relish in its majestic glory and unique features!

1)    Lorde Howe Island, New South Wales – This world-heritage listed landmark is your ideal beachy escape!   It’s tranquil, remote and just a two-hour flight from Sydney.  With no mobile reception, this allows you to reconnect with your partner, hike the tropical forests, explore the terrain on bicycle, and snorkel in the southernmost coral reef!

2)    Magnetic Island, Queensland – You’ll instantly be lured to this island’s unspoilt nature and bountiful wildlife!  With easy access to the Great Barrier Reef and its crystal turquoise waters, Magnetic Island is truly a wondrous tropical paradise with its year-round mild sunny climate.

3)    Bruny Island, Tasmania – Not far from the iconic city of Hobart, Bruny Island (which actually can be considered to be two islands joined up by a narrow strip of land) is where you’ll get to enjoy incredible cliff-top walks, lengthy stunning rocky coastlines and tall forests!  Be sure to book an eco-cruise tour to spot penguins and other wildlife.

4)    Rottnest Island, Western Australia – Considered to be a ‘world away from city life’, this island is a short ferry ride from Perth and surrounded by much marine life and unique wildlife (like the Quokka, which is only found in Western Australia).  Classified as an A Class Nature Reserve, this island is home to, and protects, rare plant species.  Discover Rottnest Island via bike or take a tour!

5)    Kangaroo Island, South Australia – Take in the gorgeous scenery and wildlife of this magical island!  Plan a walk to the iconic landmarks of KI: Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch; see the Portland Maru ship wrecks; learn about the history of the distressed lighthouses of Cape Borda and Flinders Chase National Park, hear about the stories of aboriginal mystery and so much more in this history-rich island!  Don’t miss the ‘Galapagos’ of Australia!
