Discover why the Great Ocean Road is so great on this three-day adventure from Adelaide to Melbourne. Visit the Twelve Apostles and London Bridge rock formations as well as the towns of Lorne and Apollo Bay. You will also have the chance to explore the Grampians with walks and hikes while learning about the Aboriginal stories of the land and spotting wildlife.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Adelaide to Grampians National Park

 

  • Upon leaving Adelaide, sit back and enjoy the landscapes through the Adelaide Hills on the way to lunch at Mt. Arapiles.
  • At the Grampians National Park you will spend the afternoon hiking to the bottom of McKenzie Falls and enjoy the views from The Balconies lookout point.
  • Later in the day, you might see kangaroos and other wildlife come out to play.
  • Tonight you will stay in the heart of the Grampians National Park in cabin accommodation.
  • Meals included: Lunch, Dinner

Day 2 – Grampians National Park to Twelve Apostles

 

  • This morning you will visit the Brambuk Aboriginal Cultural Centre before hiking in the beautiful Grampians.
  • Enjoy lunch at Tower Hill Reserve, the site of a dormant volcano, wetland, lake and home to lots of wildlife. Travelling along the Great Ocean Road highlights include the iconic Loch Ard Gorge, London Bridge and the Bay of Martyrs not to mention the spectacular coastal scenery in the area, finishing the day with a sunset at the Twelve Apostles rock formation.
  • Overnight you will stay in hostel accommodation on the Great Ocean Road.
  • Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3 – Great Ocean Road to Melbourne

 

  • At the Otway National Park, take a walk through some ancient temperate (cool) rainforest. Parts of the Great Ocean Road were carved by returned WWI servicemen; their legacy has created one of the most spectacular coastal roads you will ever see.
  • Further along the Great Ocean Road are the beachside towns of Apollo Bay and Lorne. The famous surf coast includes visits to Anglesea, Bells Beach and Torquay (home of surf wear brands Rip Curl and Quiksilver).
  • Your final stop is at the Split Point Lighthouse featured in the Round the Twist television series, before heading through Geelong to arrive in Melbourne at approximately 7pm.
  • Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch

What to Bring:

  • Hat, sunscreen, walking shoes/boots, insect repellent, windproof/waterproof jacket, bathers/towel and water bottle.

Valid for travel times between 01 Jul 2016 – 30 Mar 2017 (departs Tuesday & Saturday from Adelaide central accommodation at approximately 6:45am excluding 22, 24 & 31 Dec).  This package price is land-only and does not include international flight or an Australian Traveller's Visa.  Optional activities (at an additional expense) includes: Helicopter Flight at Twelve Apostles and entry to the Otway Fly Treetop Walk.  Luggage is restricted to one small bag (maximum 15 kg) and a day pack.  It is not recommended to bring a hard shell suitcase.  Itineraries are subject to change due to seasonal, cultural and weather conditions.  Prices are based on double occupancy; please reach out to our Destination Specialists for pricing on multi-share/quad occupancy.
