Itinerary:

           

Day 1: Victoria Falls

  • On arrival into Victoria Falls Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the afternoon may be spent at leisure enjoying one of the many activities available in Victoria Falls.

Day 2, 3 & 4: Victoria Falls to Hwange National Park

  • This morning your group departs Victoria Falls and to your lodge in a private concession near to Hwange National Park.
  • This afternoon you can partake in an optional game drive if time allows. Over the following two days, you will have plenty of time to explore this vast wilderness on game drives. Hwange National Park is one of Africa's finest havens for wildlife and is home to vast herds of elephant, buffalo, and zebra and has a very large concentration of giraffe. Your group will also visit the Painted Dog Conservation Centre to witness the work that is done to protect these endangered species.
  • Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner (all three days)

Day 5: Nata Lodge, Botswana

  • Today is your longest drive of the safari. Your group leaves Hwange National Park and drives through the Matetsi safari area en-route to Botswana. The drive is beautifully scenic, with the chance of spotting game along the way. We arrive into Nata Lodge in the late afternoon.
  • Meals included: Breakfast & Lunch

Day 6: Nata Bird Sanctuary and Khwai

  • After breakfast, you head off to the Nata Bird Sanctuary, where you and the group get the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent view over the Sowa pan, which is part of the Greater Makgadikgadi Pans. (Please note a visit to the pans is subject to the road conditions and water levels as well as time constraints.) 
  • You make your way to the camp, which is situated in a private concession in the Khwai River area. This large area is renowned for its concentration of mammals and it is not unusual to see many different types of wildlife during just one game drive. Game viewing is seasonal; depending on the time of the year you may see different species in different areas.
  • Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 7: Khwai River, Botswana

  • Opportunity to spend the day on game drives. In the group’s open 4x4 vehicle we will explore the Khwai River region on morning and afternoon game drives hopefully spotting a variety of game that frequent this region. After dinner your guide will take you on a night drive, and you will hopefully be able to spot some rare nocturnal animals.

Day 8: Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana

  • Today we head into the famous Moremi Game Reserve known as one of the most beautiful and varied reserves in Africa with an unprecedented concentration of wildlife. The full day is spent in the unspoiled nature of the Moremi Game Reserve.
  • Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Days 9 & 10: Okavango Delta, Botswana

  • An early departure for Etsha 13, on the western border of the Okavango Delta in Botswana. Unlike other deltas, it flows into the Kalahari Desert without reaching the coast, which makes it unique. 
  • The next day is spent exploring the network of water pathways through thick vegetation in mokoros (traditional dugout canoes), discovering a variety of birds and wildlife.
  • Opportunity to stop at a secluded island to take a 1½ hour guided walk hoping to spot elephants, waterbuck or other animals living in this water filled paradise.
  • Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner (both days)

Day 11: Mahangu, Namibia

  • After your Delta experience today, you and your grup leaves the lush verdant wetlands of Botswana and enter Namibia.
  • Enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Greater Bwabwata National Park, which extends from the Kavango River in the west to the Kwando River in the east and incorporates the Mahangu Game Reserve.
  • Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Days 12 & 13: Mahangu National Park to Chobe National Park, Botswana

  • After a night spent at Mahangu Lodge we continue our journey through the Caprivi Strip, crossing the border back into Botswana until we reach our destination, Kasane, the gateway to the Chobe National Park.
  • Start your morning of Day 13 with a hopefully spectacular game drive in Chobe National Park. You will return to the lodge for a late breakfast and relaxation until our boat cruise on the Chobe River starts around 3pm. Here you can watch elephants, hippos, crocodiles and a variety of birds, making for excellent up close photo opportunities.
  • Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner (day 12); Breakfast, Dinner (Day 13)

Day 14: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

  • Today we leave Botswana behind us and come to the place where we started this trip full of real African experiences – Victoria Falls. We visit the Victoria Falls on a guided tour and then have the rest of the day at leisure or to partake in one of the many optional activities (at own expense).
  • Meals included: Breakfast

Day 15: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

  • The safari ends after breakfast. You will be transferred to Victoria Falls Airport in time for your departure flight.

Prices advertised are subject to change without notice until such time as the package is booked and paid for.  For advice, please contact one of our Destination Specialists.  Downunder Travel Ltd. is the agent/broker in this equation and for that reason is not responsible for any issues or incidents which result in clients expenditure outside of the package booked paid for and agreed upon.  Clients are advised to bring enough money to cover the purchase of curios, tips, alcoholic drinks and additional entertainment.  Accommodations are mid-range typical African standard lodge accommodation.  Accommodation is situated either in national parks, on the banks of a river, or in other places of interest.  All travelling times are affected by road conditions, border crossings, detours and weather conditions, therefore on certain days travelling times may be longer than anticipated.  Our Destination Specialists can help the client arrange for all entry visas required to visit Zimbabwe and South Africa prior to departure.   Please advise your Downunder Travel Specialist should you be traveling on anything other than a Canadian or U.S. passport.  Airfare, taxes & fuel surcharges component of package must be paid in full at time of booking at which time the airfare becomes non-refundable.  We highly recommend that all passengers protect themselves with cancellation / interruption insurance which will cover them against cancellations due to non pre-existing medical conditions which cause them penalties or other expenses.  Travel and cancellation insurance is mandatory for every guest travelling on African safaris.
